Many elements impact your new bathroom design and the type of basin you choose is an important one – consider usage, aesthetics and the part your basin will play in the wider design picture.

From a practical perspective, this bathroom is designed to function seamlessly – even with up to three children using the room at one time.

The double undermount sinks, from Plumbline, keep things sleek while dealing with the numbers.

The top-mounted basins in this master ensuite have just the rim of the basins sitting on the countertop, with the bulk of the basin being inset.

As a result, the sinks add a relatively unobtrusive design element to the vanity.

The double basin design seen here provides his and her convenience, while their symmetrical design is pleasing to the eye.

And, at the same time, their clean, white design lets the scalloped vanity finish and emerald green tiles hold sway.

Easy to clean and easy on the eye, this vanity benefits from a fully integrated basin and countertop.

The look gains strength from its wider context, too; while the vanity has a uniform look, the rest of the space is finished uniformly (wall to wall to floor) in marble-look Invisible Light Matt tiles, from Tile Space.

Here, the owners wanted a contemporary, ‘timeless’ design, and this counter basin – one of two on the vanity top – came to the design party.

Additionally, with design nothing exists in a vacuum and the gracious ensuite also includes a perfect match for its sculptural basins – a freestanding curvaceous tub.

The brief was to design an atmospheric powder room and, along with other surprising inclusions, this black marble pedestal basin draws the eye.

As well as bringing undeniable drama, this slender contemporary element takes up only limited floor space – a great option if room to move is limited and if you don’t need the storage space that’s essential in a fully functional bathroom.
