The glass panelling between the shower and bath space allows the room to retain an open feel.

The mirror is a hand-crafted piece – brought back from Thailand by the owners.

On the initial architectural plans, the designer removed a window that overlooked the street (to ease privacy concerns) and added a beautiful circular skylight to ensure an abundance of natural light.

The owners liked the feel of industrial looking spaces and the idea of this to come through in the bathroom but still wanted a feeling of warmth for the space.

Wall panels conceal storage for a seamless look.

Double basins for both teenageers have been designed into the space to allow each boy to have their own dedicated basin area and storage.

The original window joinery and door have been restored while refined timber panelling in the upper portion of the room is a nod to the home's villa character – strip lighting showcases the finer details.

Bronze/gold tapware with inlayed handles offer an opulent touch.

The vanity surface and basins are seamless which allows for good size sinks and offers another nod to easy maintenance.

The Blue Palissandro stone wall includes a recessed soap niche at tub level.

The ensuite has taken an entire interior makeover to bring the outdated home into the contemporary era.

Skylights flood the bathroom with natural light.

Floating sink vanities are surrounded by custom cabinetry entablatures which not only focuses attention on the vanities but also houses storage.

The contemporary design works to enhance the rounds and curves.

The dividing/privacy blade wall provides for a soap niche in the shower stall.

The designer created a low wall in the shower to allow for shampoo and accessories to be in easy reach.

An integrated sink and vanity keeps it simple to clean.

A large composite marble stone bath was placed in the bedroom – with a chandelier above for a wow factor!

Black shutters match with the black strip tiles behind as the designer wanted to keep the material palate simple to maximise the visual impact of the tub.

Entry to the master ensuite: Donnybrook limestone is a key material used in the bathroom.

Designer: To create a visually appealing and calming environment, we incorporated a palette of beautiful blue hues in the selection of tiles.

The four metre ceilings with the up lit historic cornicing provided a majestic backdrop for a classical contemporary bathroom, grounded by a Blue Palissandro stone feature wall.

The bathroom makes a playful nod to both colour and texture.

The designer opting for a variety of subway wall tiles, that were laid in an offset stacked pattern – instantly modernising the space.

A gloss tile reminiscent of stone/moss was applied to feature walls for a modern, earthy aesthetic.

Organic shapes and rusticated finishes in the timber benchtop and basin were paired together for a relaxed powder room.

The bath is positioned in front of the doorway to create visual impact as you enter the bathroom. The impact is further highlighted by the black vertically laid Rewind Peltro strip tiles.

- Celestrial sanctuary -

The wall-set bath filler is ideally positioned at the foot end of the bathtub, rather than being floor mounted and detracting from the bath.

The ensuite has a Carrara marble vanity top.

The Tribeca tiles were in keeping with the earthy colour palette while also adding a touch of glam.

As well as complementing the bath, the curves in the vanity-top basin also connect with the custom mirror.

Concrete above-counter bowls also add to the ensuite's rugged, textural aesthetic.

Mirror backlighting provides quality task lighting and includes dimmers, for a soft relaxing feel.

Mirrors in a starburst shape repeat the design of the chandelier and create dramatic focal points.

The free-standing, pewter pedestal tub was located across from the entrance to serve as the focal point of the space.

Matt black fittings almost disappear into the walls.

Aged brass tapware was a great match for the stone table top basin.

Shower wall and tub. - Curves in all the right places -

Adjoining the master suite, with its curved wall, the inner curve of the ensuite wall is highlighted with the vanity shape at its set-down space.

Closing off the entry into an adjacent ensuite created this separate powder room.

A custom cabinetry entablature frames the space, focusing the attention on the tub, while also giving a place for recessed shelves to display bath salts, candles and other items.

The timber vanity is substantial and masculine while gun metal vessel basins/tapware contrast and complement the feature tiles behind.

Taking the tiles all the way to the ceiling has allowed the space to feel larger and highlights the ceiling drop as a design feature.

The bathroom's functional specified strip lighting highlights the texture of the feature tiles.

A curvaceous invitation – the freestanding tub is a leading feature of the design.

No glass door was needed as the shower is 1.7m wide, helping to make the space practical and easy to clean.

Sharp corners need not apply in this bathroom.

Utilising one material from floor towards ceiling has resulted in a feeling of breathing space and serenity.

The decorative tile detail behind the tub becomes the artwork of the space and is set off by the starburst chandelier which was converted to low voltage to meet local building code for use over the tub.

Wall mounted tapware and a slender tabletop basin both add to the bathroom's sense of space.

A moody elegance was created with lighting to the cabinetry and space.

The uncovered window now admits more light, complementing the skylight in this regard.

A slender benchtop and tabletop basin evoke a modern look.

A step back on the shower stall's back wall provides a handy soap/shampoo ledge.

The mirrored entry includes ceiling mirrors to optimise the elegant connection.

An off the shelf vanity saved money while looking decidedly upmarket.

A tall cane hand crafted basket sits below the benchtop for guests' towels.

Privacy assured – while the existing footprint of the bathroom remained the same, the designer was able to introduce wing walls to create a sense of privacy.

The warmth of the ply on the custom vanity gives light and interest to the scheme while establishing continuity from the other wet areas in the home.

A large shower was designed that features two shower heads, one stationary and the other a handheld on a slide bar which can serve multiple functions.

Brushed steel towel rails work well with the almost semi-industrial palette.

The ensuite celebrates natural tones. - When a negative becomes a positive -

Designer: "We decided that the vanity needed to be the central element to the space with the materials, colours and textures tying back to this so that when the door opens the site lines are attractive when looking in from the bedroom."

Cantilevering the vanity adds to the bathroom's sense of space.

Designer: Our objective was to transform an existing, dark, and dated ensuite into a vibrant space connected to the teenage boy's bedroom.

A skylight means natural task lighting falls on the double vanity.

Natural light entering via a highlight window maintains privacy while privacy to the toilet and shower is maintained with privacy film.

The backlit mirrors and under-lit vanity create restful ambient lighting.

Mirrored doors reflect on this opulent master ensuite adding to the sense of lux spaciousness.

Architect: Our homeowners were inspired by their travels in Italy with homes built around courtyards; and textural masonry construction.

The owners wanted his and hers areas in the bathroom.

Copper tapware stands out nicely against the brown tilework.

The brief was for a contemporary space that was light, white and airy while also keeping the budget in mind.

The seagrass-toned feature tiles have a distressed look.

Brass elements accentuate the black and white marble-look tiles.

Lilac marble tile was repeated from the floor tile to the countertops and shower casing, to the herringbone mosaic tile used as a backsplash at the 'his' vanity.

A Smart Glass window behind the 'her' vanity is frosted, allowing natural light but also providing privacy when desired – with the flip of a switch the glass turns from frosted to clear, allowing views out.

To achieve this bathroom, walls and timber ceilings were removed to combine spaces – ceilings were proportionately lowered to 2.7 flat.

Feature curved walls have been further highlighted with the pill shaped ‘tic-tac’ tile and prominent grouting.

Marble-look tiles connect to the ocean - their veining pattern creates a sense of movement, energy and waves. The picture window frames the rural setting.

The designer transitioned this room from three seperate areas into an open plan space with the solid-surface freestanding bath making a statement on entry.
