MOBILE

When planning a bathroom renovation, most people think about layout, colour and finishes. But one surprisingly impactful decision often gets overlooked: the height of the toilet.

Jennifer Price, Strategic Brands Manager for Plumbing World, says taller toilets are now in demand for a reason. “Toilet suites used to be around about 400 millimetres off the floor. Now they’re getting a little bit higher.” These comfort-height toilets sit slightly higher than standard models, typically by three to five centimetres.

That might not sound like much, but it can change how easy it is to sit down and stand up for people of different heights and those with mobility concerns. The difference is subtle in appearance but noticeable in use.

Standard-height toilets can be more suitable for children or smaller adults, and they tend to suit traditional spaces or households where lower seating feels more natural. Taller toilets offer added support for older adults, taller people and anyone with joint or back issues.

Next time you visit a showroom, try sitting on a few different options. It’s the easiest way to compare comfort and find the right fit for your household.
