The design of the kitchen, scullery, and laundry for this Herne Bay home effectively met the owner’s brief through the selection of bold finishes and thoughtful spatial planning.

The owner’s clear request for a kitchen that ‘steals the show’ was addressed by using striking design elements, including the textured stone door veneer juxtaposed against sleek matt black glass doors on the back wall.

Contrasting textures

“The contrast between the rough, natural texture of the stone and the smooth, modern glass surfaces and the see-through cabinets with the LED lighting creates a dramatic visual impact, reflecting both luxury and sophistication,” says Julia Shuttleworth, Hacker Kitchens.

I was involved in the project from its early stages, before construction had even begun, ensuring the design would be seamlessly integrated into the architectural vision.

The homeowner, a seasoned professional with experience in construction and development, provided clear direction, making decision-making efficient.

His familiarity with the process and clear vision for the space allowed us to collaborate smoothly and effectively.

My role encompassed the complete design of the kitchen, scullery, and laundry areas, ensuring each space functioned harmoniously while aligning with the owner’s aesthetic desires.

I also managed the production and installation of these spaces, including overseeing the dropped ceiling and lighting discussions to ensure the spaces were both visually striking and functional.

Challenges associated with the space, such as optimising the layout within the home’s design parameters, were addressed early in the process, making the subsequent stages more straightforward.

The final result is a kitchen that is both a functional space for daily living and a central feature of the home, exuding elegance and modernity.

By focusing on high-quality materials, precise spatial design, and the latest technological advancements, the kitchen, scullery, and laundry meet the owner’s requirements for luxury, style, and practical living.
