 The wider setting

The home include natural timber elements and earthy tones in the interior to give it a no-fuss feeling that is both easy care and low maintenance.

Natural colours are used in earthy tones in the living areas and developing into deep and rich tones in the more private zones of the house.

In the lounge, muted greens are layered to reflect nature, including walls in Resene Tama, Laminex Melteca ‘Possum’, a Citta army-green velvet sofa and Nodi oatmeal rug.

The service areas of the scullery and laundry continue the muted tones of the Laminex Melteca.

Soft linen curtains in the living zone create a welcoming glow, juxtaposed with the robust white steel cabinetry of the kitchen.

As the finishing touch art work was selected to complement the colour scheme.

The kitchen

The kitchen is at the heart of this new family house.

For the family, food and entertaining is an important aspect of life, so this kitchen needed to have robust materials, an easy layout (for more than one person to use at once), as well as be an attractive place to stop and perch.

well-designed kitchen interior focusing on the style, material, and layout of the kitchen cabinets
Soft linen curtains in the living zone create a welcoming glow, juxtaposed with the robust white steel cabinetry of the kitchen.

Elements include an island bench, tall store reach bench and a scullery hidden away.

The island bench is generously sized for entertaining, its curved end perfect for conversational style seating.

The materials are Super White granite with a mix of veneer and solid oak, a stainless steel sink with Vola tap and white ceramic tiles below the island.

Timber is a thematic component, seen in both small details and employed to larger effect.

Cabinetry with half-round solid oak dowels provides a textured end to anchor the island.

This motif is repeated in the oak legs of the bench, nearby dining table and timber handles in surrounding cabinetry.

A plate stainless steel rear bench with white steel KXN cabinetry and a Super White granite splashback create a functional cooking zone.

Fisher and Paykel double ovens and both a gas and induction cooktop give ultimate flexibility in cooking.

To create drama a thin shelf is rebated into the stone to create a floating effect.

The scullery, with extensive storage, is hidden behind a sliding door.

The robust stainless steel bench houses appliances as well as the Zenith hot/cold/sparkling water tap.

The finishing touches are created with ECC pendant lights, Forte oak flooring and bar stools from Cult Design.
