Awarded Design of the Year, along with Gold in Residential Build (Up to $250,000) and Residential Design (up to 500m²), at the Landscapes of Distinction Awards 2025. Located in Orewa, Auckland. Created by Luijten Landscaping Ltd.

The project took on a sloped and tightly constrained parcel of land in Orewa, combined with a resort-style vision and the need to retain existing structures. Luijten Landscaping transformed it into terraced areas that function as interconnected outdoor rooms: including a pool, spa, dining area, and lounge space.

Sculptural floating timber stairs enhance the aesthetics; vertical sleeper fencing around the pool creates a seamless boundary, ensuring the pool area feels open rather than confined; glass and timber screens provide privacy without enclosing the garden. Kwila timber was procured early on, preventing any delays from national timber shortages. Two years later, the homeowners continue to cherish every detail. The judges commended the thoughtful approach to a compact site, noting its spatial clarity and elegance.
