Pool landscapes have come of age. No longer an after-thought, pools and outdoor living areas today are planned with the same skill and attention that goes into the design of a new home or renovation project.

But this customisation still involves a lot of decision making, from the type of pool to its colour, heating and filtration system. The pools featured on these pages highlight some of the options provided by Frontier Pools.

As with many of the company’s projects, each pool is part of a wider landscape that visually links the pool to the planting and the house. While one of the pools features a traditional Diamond Brite Tahoe Blue plaster finish, the others illustrate the popular Onyx Diamond Brite black finish.

Neil Runciman of Frontier Pools says that despite the name, black pools are transparent.

“But they do have greater reflective properties than other colours, which can enhance a landscape. They also retain heat well, effectively extending the time you can use the pool.”

Many of the company’s projects also involve pools that are Zane solar heated. Other features frequently incorporated into designs include swim jets, novel water features, wet edges, natural rock pools, spa pools and fibre optic lighting.

Frontier Pools can supply all the filtering equipment and automation you require, and provide a full service contract if needed. The company installs Waterco Micron sand filters and energy-efficient Hydrostorm Plus pumps. There’s also a range of Waterco heating systems to take the chill off the water. These include Waterco Gas and Zane Solar Systems.
