The guest pools in the SkyCity Grand Hotel are all part of the five-star facilities on offer. Their installation, however, was not without its challenges.
Frontier Pools has met these challenges with the design detailing and installation of a 25m lap pool and a spa pool on the seventh level of the hotel, part of the gymnasium complex and over the top of the main conference centre.
To ensure the pools do not leak, a major issue with indoor pools, Frontier Pools used multiple levels of waterproof membranes.
Aesthetically, Frontier worked with Craig Craig Moller using purpose-built Italian KlinkerSire tiles for the edge tiles and grills. Diamond Brite plaster, a smooth, durable, colour-fast product designed to withstand the abuse of commercial applications, was chosen for the sides and bottom of the pools. Commercial-grade Waterco pumps and filters and Novozone’s Ozone water purification system ensure the water is always crystal-clear and without a strong chlorine smell or skin irritations.
