Set in the semi-rural landscape of Pemberley, Canterbury, New Zealand, this family home blends seamlessly into its surroundings with a mix of stone, metal, and timber cladding, embracing the area’s rural aesthetic.

Designed with flexible family living in mind, the home is divided into distinct wings, each housed under a gable form.

The four gables are the home’s defining features, each with varying lengths and angles, adding visual interest and separating different zones.

The living wing faces north and west to capture the afternoon sun, while large windows connect the indoor space to a sheltered courtyard.

This outdoor area is framed by the second living pavilion, which is separated by an elongated entry, providing a natural division, and creating an inviting outdoor living space.

The main bedroom wing includes a walk-in robe and ensuite, with a skylight strategically placed to flood the space with natural light.

Opposite, the children’s bedroom wing offers privacy for adult children, creating a well-balanced living environment.
