From the designer:

Working within the constraints of the existing footprint, we have transitioned this room from three separate areas into an open plan space with the solid-surface freestanding bath, regal, with dramatic curves – making a statement on entry.

The wall-set bath filler is ideally positioned at the foot end of the bathtub, rather than being floor mounted and detracting from the bath.

The wall niche is centred on the tub’s location, while the bath echoes the shapes of the vanity-top basin.

The existing doorway position offers glimpses of the walk-in shower and statement bath.

Transparent glass panels between the shower and bath maintain openness and visual flow in the space.
The glass panelling between the shower and bath space allows the room to retain an open feel.

The facing wall provides privacy to the shower (with its one tile width lines) and supports the in-shower niche, while the glass panelling between the shower and bath space allows the room to retain an open feel.

There is a seamless transition in colour across the large format tile and smaller thin subway tile – the latter laid vertically, adding texture to the walls. At the same time, the dark grey adds to the drama and intimacy of the space, providing a backdrop to the statement piece in the room.

A sleek wall-mounted bath filler at the tub’s foot end preserves the clean look of the freestanding bathtub.

Providing ample storage and functionality, the custom-designed vanity in oak adds a natural element and warmth to the dramatic space.

As well as complementing the bath, the curves in the vanity-top basin also connect with the custom mirror.

Matt black fittings almost disappear into the walls and spaces, while the custom floor drainage is also in black and runs parallel to the wall, so it disappears into the floor.

The pan has been relocated to a semi-private space from the door entry.

Already flooded with natural light, the bathroom’s functional specified strip lighting highlights the texture of the feature tiles.

The subtlety of the parallel lines, lighting, tiles and the overall use of restraint contribute to a seamless aesthetic for this luxurious, spa-like bathroom.

The curved vanity-top basin and matching custom mirror echo the bath’s contours for cohesive design.
