From Landmark Homes Taupo:
The owners fell in love with a previous Landmark Homes Showhome that had come onto the market, and that home was almost perfect for them.
While in negotiation with the vendors, the owners came across a section that appeared to be superior, and they approached Landmark Homes about the possibility of building the Showhome plan but with the changes that would make it ideally suit them.
Views aplenty
The home was designed to make the most of the stunning outlook of the Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course, the house being built perched on the 10th fairway.
The eyes are naturally led to the South to the Great Lake Taupo, culminating at Mount Ruapehu.
The kitchen, living and dining room feel as though it is floating, with over-height joinery and neutral tones that blend and become as one with the golf course.
The kitchen was designed with the views in mind, and that has been accomplished by the outlook from behind the island.
The kitchen is both a functional space for home chefs and a hub for congregating, which is achieved by the oversized kitchen island bench.
Island inspiration
In the original design, the owners were concerned the island would not be functional for them, so the configuration of the island was completely changed, smart features were introduced, and the island became a space that not only works well but looks amazing, too.
There is a theme in the kitchen that features are not just for looks and are multi-purpose – firstly, the splashback, which is a requirement for cooking, is also a cleverly disguised mirror, reflecting the picturesque view.
Secret scullery
The owners often have guests, and they didn’t want a scullery where they could end up while entertaining, so what was that end scullery is instead now an oversized pantry with open shelving – yet in the theme to disguise, the scullery is concealed by a kitchen panel – a feature that wows the unsuspecting guests!
Durable materials and the use of clever lighting ensure this kitchen perfectly complements its natural surroundings.
The home’s impressive new kitchen is naturally the heart of the home and captivating to all.
