From the designer:
The ensuite has undergone an entire interior makeover to bring the outdated home into the contemporary era.
I drew upon earthy colour tones, natural elements and textures so that the European style of the home was reflected in the design process.
The original finishes worked against the architectural form of the ensuite instead of harmoniously embracing its character.
The ceiling has an interesting feature where it drops in the corner, however, the existing layout made this area feel disoriented and small.
– When a negative becomes a positive –
Taking the tiles all the way to the ceiling has allowed the space to feel larger and highlights the ceiling drop as a design feature.
I wanted to elevate the space by adding a heavily textured tile along the vanity wall.
The Tribeca tiles by Tile Depot were the perfect colour tone – in keeping with the earthy colour palette while also adding a touch of glam.
I persuaded my homeowners to get custom-made mirrors by Joska & Son with additional lighting built into the back of them.
The mirrors do a beautiful job of highlighting the texture of the feature tiles and create a relaxing ambience in the space.
