Supreme Winner and Landscape of the Year, along with honors for Softscape and Maintenance, Landscapes of Distinction Awards 2025. Auckland. By Second Nature.

At the conclusion of a lengthy driveway, Urban Oasis reveals a series of spaces, showcasing a diverse assortment of flowering plants, shrubs, unique trees, and grasses set against rocky features, stepping stones, and large lawns. The design brief called for a garden inspired by Italian designer Luciano Giubbelei, skillfully executed by Second Nature for a residence designed by Cheshire Architects.

Twisted specimen olives and sandstone provide a Mediterranean ambiance and a sense of age. Adapting a drier, seasonal European aesthetic to the humid climate of Auckland presents genuine challenges related to drainage, irrigation, and pest management, all of which are addressed through meticulous, ongoing maintenance. The judges regarded this maintenance as more than just upkeep; they viewed it as stewardship, and unanimously nominated it for the Supreme Award.
